Advertising & Affiliate Links

  

Let’s chat a little about the advertising you see on these pages and affiliate links.

First, the advertising. The ads are placed by a company that pays me for allowing them to do so. It isn’t much for my little blog, but it pays for the domain name so I can maintain it at no cost to me. I do not approve or necessarily recommend the merchants that are advertised.

Now, Affiliate links. These are links to merchandise and suppliers that I personally use and/or believe in. If you shop through one of my affiliate links, it costs you nothing. However, I receive a small percentage of the sale as a commission. This helps offset some of my costs for materials and allows me to keep doing what I do. If I start to generate enough from the affiliate links, I will remove the advertising from the blog. I find it as irritating as I am sure you do. I think it sometimes makes it confusing, especially when you are viewing the blog on a device. So please hang in there and if you shop with one of my recommended merchants, click through my links. I appreciate it and you! I will add a page with my affiliate links and I am adding them to the side panel on the right of the blog.  I have been working for a few weeks to complete this project and the video. I created new DS files and altered a couple of existing ones. The exciting thing is that I am done! A friend sent me this idea and I really loved it. I have so many planned now. I made a single folio for my husband for Father’s Day. Then I did another for my niece with pictures from preparing for her wedding. I got the big idea that I should also do one for the wedding and then one for the reception. Now I needed a way to group them all together. Then I created the box. Now I want one with dog pictures, oh and then ones with pictures from different camping trips, oh and gifts…!!!! There are just so many uses for these cute little books. Holding anywhere from 8 to 18 pictures (or more), they can tell a story in such little space and in a unique way.

There are several files. The first is for the Picture Folio itself. Then there is a file for the Gatefold insert and one for the accordion pull-out. Lastly there is the file for the box I would love to see what you create with these files. 3-D Bow card or gift topper

 I have been seeing so many three-dimensional bow cards lately. I decided that we needed to be able to make them with our Cricut. I created a file and made a couple. I think they make great cards and will also work wonderfully as a gift topper. I will be doing some in Christmas paper for that purpose. Click on the "Card making" link on the right and find the file labeled "Bow Card". It is made from basic shapes and a free image so there is no cost to Create! (The flourishes on each side are from an Anna Griffin cut and emboss folder.)

I also had several male-themed cards to make for June. I only got pictures of two of them. Most of the elements of those cards were not done with my Cricut. For the two I have pictures of, the inside verse and panels were done with my Cricut. I love Anna Griffin's embellishments for masculine-themed cards and that was my source for June’s cards. 

         

I love how you can create these intricate borders and then add your text. I did these as print then cut and think they came out very professional looking. 

February 2022 update

  

I am finally back to crafting. After a busy holiday season, my husband and I came down with COVID. We are very happy that it was a mild case for both of us and really felt like a head cold. (For those interested, we both have been vaccinated and I had received my booster.)

I am currently sewing some clothes and working on some new linen kitchen towels. If you have not tried linen towels, you may want to consider it. I purchase linen from Fabrics-store.com. For the kitchen towels and my hair towels, I check out their “doggie bag” pieces and then cut them to size and hem. Linen fabric naturally does not mildew and is very absorbent. When you live in a humid climate like southwest Florida, it is nice to have towels that don’t smell after just one day’s use.

I finished up my birthday cards for February and will be working on Valentine's
cards next. The card pictured was a mixture of methods. The base and front panel were cut with the Cricut. The “Happy Birthday”, the flower and leaves were die cut and the front panel was embossed, both with my Gemini Midi. The inside sentiment was stamped on a card insert.

Fonts that Mimic Single-line fonts

I have seen several posts recently where people are looking for fonts that will “write” with the Cricut rather than tracing the outlines of the letters, leaving that bubbly look. I have created a list of fonts that mimic the look of a single-line font. That list can be accessed by finding the page list in the column to the left and clicking there.
